Tiny Dancing - Issue 2 (Not Real Version)

Please don't be angry. Please don't be annoyed. Yes, it's taking a little bit longer than expected to sort out Issue 3. And yes, the crushing pressure of our own mortality means that is not a good thing (and it's all my fault to boot).

It's not far off though, and to try and win back a little bit of your patronic favour may we present you with the future-not-real-version of Issue 2, for the downloading thereof.

Now, cards on the table time - there are pros and cons with this particular incarnation. Yes, it's more electronic and less perishable, but it also means the full, seismic impact of the Interactive Future Page is somewhat lost. Swings and roundabouts and that.

So yes - Issue 3 looms on the horizon like a watchful, wary man-child, and may I ask you rest assured that once it gains the confidence and maturity to finally make it's approach towards civilization, it will truly be quite a beauty. And besides, we're all going to live forever aren't we, so we can all handle a bit of a wait I think.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 2 (Real Version)

Tiny Dancing Issue 2 is here!

After three whole months of toil, soul searching, gnashing of teeth and other such similar demonstrations of creative endeavour, issue two of Tiny Dancing is ready. Excellent.

And so we thought with nothing else of national import happening this week, let's push the little bugger out of the nest on the 7th of May to see if it'll fly and soar or crash to earth with a sickening thump and a last, plaintive chirrup. We shall see.

Due to the sheer quality of content, and also because I got a bit excited with one particular feature, we're going to have to ask you to give us one pound for it this time, which covers post and that as well - and when you see what we've got for you, we are CONFIDENT you'll agree a fair transaction has been conducted to the satisfaction of all.

Smoothly sliding over then to what we've got, we have contributions from new friends of Tiny Dancing Emma Hammond, Sam Ely and Megan Ancliffe, as well as the continuing works of Ricky Miller, Steven Horry, Michael Gosden, Rebecca Strickson and me. Amazing.

So, yes, one pound. There are three ways in which you can pay us that we can think of:

1 - Paypal - apparently, if you click on this here button and follow the instructions, magic things will happen. Let us know if it doesn't work, yeah?

SOLD OUT!

2 - Send me a pound stuck to a bit of card with your address on to:

Tiny Dancing
12C The Gardens
East Dulwich
London
SE22 9QD

(Having to trust the postie a bit there - living dangerously and all that).

3 - Give me a pound next time you see me, and make me write down your address somewhere so I can remember to send you a copy. I may even be carrying one around with me for an immediate exchange of goods.

If none of that makes any sense, which is more than possible, you can email me at dancer@tinydancing.co.uk, and with a bit of luck you'll find me in a better place to sort stuff out.

Or, if it all seems a bit complicated, Sister Ray on Berwick Street in London Town are now selling some copies from atop their counter. Easy.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 1 (Not Real Version)

With Issue 2 now firmly in the 'being thought about quite a lot' stage, and most of the copies of Issue 1 now in the hands of... someone, we thought it was about time we gave 'it' to you in a computerised version for downloading.

Now we know we said the entire point of our new endeavouring was to give you something that was a real thing, but come now - we are not completely without fingers in the future pie.

And no doubt by now the real life copies out there in the possession of... someone are all dog eared from the relentless thumbing through and reading and that, so it's excellent timing really. Excellent.

So now, marvel at the full 24 pages of stuff that was put together by us for you on your very own computer screen, as we proudly present... the not real version of Tiny Dancing Issue 1. We thank you.

CHANGE IS BAD GOOD

The more eagled eyed of you out there will have noticed that there is change afoot here. And if there's one thing that my wanderings in the corporate world have taught me it's that CHANGE IS BAD and it must be MANAGED. So, consider this yourself being managed. I am that good.

Firstly, the old blog hasn't disappeared, it's just been put away somewhere else. It had been sitting there like a little puppy looking up at the dinner table for a good while now, being chucked the odd bit of gristle or unsatisfying morsel, and it got to the point where we just couldn't take it anymore. We are not, after all, without compassion.

If you want to go and see it, it's here - Tiny Dancing - The Archive. Like an elderly relative in a rest home, you might want to drop in on it occasionally when you've got five minutes to kill. Don't bring flowers, they play havoc with our sinuses.

So, to the second part of this management masterclass - The New. In the days since the old blog 'wound down' shall we say, we've been in a state of meditation in an attempt to decide where our endeavors should take us next. After abortive attempts at opening a new school for the performing arts, specialising solely in mime and throat singing, and a brief stint working on a new musical about the indigenous peoples of The Amazon with Sting (didn't work out, we're not down with that tantric stuff), we've arrived here - the dawn of a new age: Tiny Dancing - The Fanzine / Comic / Self Published Thing (we're not quite sure which yet).

One of the reasons we stopped the old blog was that the world of the futureweb was becoming saturated. Which is no bad thing, it's what it's for after all, but we've never really liked being in a crowd that much, we find it cramps our unique style. And on top of that, we found there was a real detachment intrinsic in the whole process which was seemingly getting bigger and bigger, and which we just couldn't get around.

In producing a real thing that exists in the actual world, we're hoping to do a couple of things. One is to get over that detachment lark, and the other is to open up our full gamut of creative urges for your delectation. The idea behind the new Tiny Dancing is to collect together work from people we know and are hopefully going to meet, which they want to do and are passionate about.

There aren't going to be specific themes or rules, apart from the fact that it needs to be able to be included in a published format - it's purely about what our contributors want to make. Then once we've got enough for an issue we collect it together, print it out, and send it to you. Fiendishly original, we know, but we're absolutely convinced that it will be a genuinely rewarding experience for both us and you. Genuinely.

Our first issue is done - the cover of which is at the top of this post - and includes work from Michael Gosden, Steven Horry, Ricky Miller, Rebecca Strickson and David White. Like parents taking their child to big school for the first time, we're very proud. If you would like a copy, send an email to Dancer@tinydancing.co.uk with your proper real address, and we'll get one out to you.

Issue two is being put together now, and we're aiming to have it done some time in April. If you'd like to get involved and maybe submit something for inclusion, email Dancer@tinydancing.co.uk.

This is the end of the seminar. Thank you for coming.

DON'T PANIC

Don't panic. It's all under control.
