Dazed Live Zine Exhibition curated by Jotta

jotta: Absolut London from jotta on Vimeo.

We told you ALL through the medium of 'social networking' that Tiny Dancing was taking part in the jotta curated zine exhibition as part of the Dazed Live weekend t'other week, and if you look very carefully at the video above, you might be able to see issues 3, 4 and 5 minding their own business in the corner somewhere, like content, well behaved puppies. You see, we were being truthful.

It was a rare honour for our modest publication to be in the company of such luminaries as Sniffin' Glue, Vile, and Chainsaw, and we trust that you took the unique opportunity to peruse such a historic collection of self publication and human evolution.

Aside from curating outstanding exhibits, jotta also continually illuminate and elucidate so much that is good and arty, so bookmark, sign up, stalk etc. etc. as is only right and proper in this day and age.

Here are some more photos from the exhibition, all by Dan Price.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 5 (Real Version)

Finally! Finally, issue 5 is here (well, it was kind of here at the London Comic and Small Press Expo the other week, but let us not get hung up on the mereness of details, hmm?)!

Just as the long, cold winter seems to have been thwarted, we present to you good peoples another ray of printed sunshine with which to coax the shoots of growth from the gradually defrosting earth of inspiration. Yeah, that one kind of got away from me a little bit.

To shake the sleep away from your moley hibernated eyeballs (I'm going with it) we have wonders such as an astonishing front cover and Beefheart tribute from H.B., new instalments of Metroland and Hilary Harper from Ricky Miller and Steve Horry respectively (which if you ask me might just be their best work yet), a look inside the workings of The Park from Michael Gosden, further glimpses into the gifted minds and worlds of Rebecca Strickson, Megan Ancliffe and Joe Morris, and to top it all off, we're delighted to welcome aboard Leila Southgate and her paintbrush for the first time.

Slap Volume 2 of the Tiny Dancing Audio Library on the back (free sound!), mix in more Young Tony Hadley Chronicles, and finally add in a doff of our caps to the work of Derek Griffiths and Bobby George, and there you have it - issue 5 in all it's "glory".

So, you want one? You do? Splendid! That'll be two pounds please. This is how we do it:

1 - Firstly, we have the Paypal. Now, I only set this up once every three months when we have a new issue, and in that time I always forget how to do it. So there's a distinct possibility I've done it wrong, and it won't work. Let us know if it doesn't work, basically.

THE AVERY HILL PUBLISHING SHOP!

2 - Then, we have the sending of cold, hard cash. If you're up for that, send us suitable funds with a legible note of your address to our "drop house":

Tiny Dancing
12C The Gardens
East Dulwich
London
SE22 9QD

3 - We could do a swap of something. If you want to send us something to swap (and we're thinking other publications and such like, rather than any stuff you've got lying around your house that you don't really want anymore - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but we're something of hoarders here at Tiny Dancing, and we have no space left to live in), then send it to us at the address as included under payment option no. 2 thank you please.

4 - Find me or one of our mobile vendors, and carry out a personal transaction. This will be easier now the sun is out a bit, and I may leave the house occasionally.

5 - Wait until we get some into the shops that sell them for us. We haven't stocked them up as yet, but we will, so keep an eye on it. UPDATE! There are now some copies of Issue 5 in stock at Orbital Comics! We love Orbital Comics, so when you go there to buy Issue 5, spend some time perusing the other amazing stuff in store like the cabinet full of original M.A.S.K. toys.

And now there are some copies of Issue 5 in stock at Sister Ray as well! We love Sister Ray, so when you go there to buy Issue 5, spend some time perusing their amazing array of music which fuelled an awful lot of our old music blog.

And so that is that. Let us part on the understanding that there are exciting plans afoot in the world of Tiny Dancing which will not only mean issue 6 should be even more of a good thing, but also that other projects are being "initiated" that we can't tell you about yet, just in case it doesn't actually work. Which it will, but just in case. Like I said - "exciting".

Marg? Marg!

Marg? Marg! is the new book from Rebecca Strickson, regular contributor to Tiny Dancing and all round amazing purveyor of illustration.

It's a small compendium of family sayings, a little tribute to parental wisdom and the universal brilliance of the poking things with a big stick, and is really rather special. We suggest you brighten up your day, and order your copy from Rebecca's online shop without further delay.

We'll also have some copies to sell on our table at the London Small Press and Comic Expo this Saturday the 12th of March, so that's another reason to come along and see us. In real life. Hmm.

The London Comic and Small Press Expo

In an unprecedented display of actually doing something, Tiny Dancing will be appearing at the London Comic and Small Press Expo at Goldsmiths University in New Cross on Saturday the 12th of March. We're on table 59. It sounds like a good table.

We've got all kinds of crazy plans afoot for our first ever outing at such a thing, and although we've had to shelve the midget rap karaoke (something to do with insurance), we should have other things to be taken away from us for nothing, and there will also the unique opportunity to get your hands on issue 5 a good couple of weeks before anyone else in the world will. If that's not reason enough to come along and see our faces, I'm not sure what you people want anymore...

Have a look at the Expo website for all the stuff that needs to be known and what else is going on, and how to get there and get in and so on - it starts at 10am and goes on until 5pm, so you'll definitely be able to get out of New Cross before night fall.

What FUN.

UPDATE! Here's a photo of our table on the day. Special mentions to the Tiny Dancing sign made by Rebecca Strickson, and the two haunting dog statuettes provided by Khan's Bargain, Peckham.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 3 (Not Real Version)

Ah, a new year - a time for new hopes. New dreams. New ambitions...

But not here at Tiny Dancing. Oh no. Here is a bit of the old, in the form of the downloadable electronic not real digitialistic version of Issue 3, which you can now probably not get anywhere since we think they've all possibly been sold. Unless we've lost some somewhere, which is easily achievable. So yes, download this:

Tiny Dancing - Issue 3 (Not Real Version)

The new will of course be coming in a little (couple) while (of months), and until then you can still get your bountiful(!), colourful(!) and soundful(?) copy of Issue 4 all as per the post before this one, which in summary would be Paypal (even thought it props up evil and so on etc etc etc), the post, me, the shops.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 4 (Real Version)

What's that? Tiny Dancing Issue 4 is here? Just in time for the yueltide? Oh, thank the Jesu child! And merry Christmas, everyone!

That is correct - with the festive season bearing down on us like an overly large child stuffed to the gills with Guylians, Issue 4 has landed in our metaphorical stocking for your enjoyment in between the eating and the drinking and the feeling slightly gippy. Better than a walnut, and a on a par with a satsuma. Which might possibly be our new tagline.

So what does this most... frosty of issues bring? Wonders we tell you, wonders (in a convenient bullet pointed format):

- a colour cover (magic)!
- 36 pages of joy (voluminous)!
- a compact disc entitled Tiny Dancing Audio Library Vol. 1 (enigmatic)!

But wait - who are the wise men, women and others who have come to present gifts on this night? Why, none other than Megan Ancliffe, Laura Coxeter, Michael Gosden, H.B., Steven Horry, Ricky Miller, Joe Morris, Rebecca Strickson and David White - truly, we are blessed.

So - enough of this mincing under the mistletoe, let us get down to business. Due to the sheer size and colour and free sound you're getting with this one, Issue 4 costs a princely two pounds. It's very much worth it though - of that we are CONFIDENT. And how can you make this Christmas the very best one since you got things you really wanted and not just a multi-pack of Primark pants and/or knickers? Take your pick, my beauties:

1 - The Paypal - it's a thing that works with made up money

THE AVERY HILL PUBLISHING SHOP!

2 - Send me two one pound coins, a ten pence and a twenty pence stuck to a bit of card with your address on to:

Tiny Dancing
12c The Gardens
East Dulwich
London
SE22 9QD

A copy will be dispatched forthwith. As long as the Royal Mail doesn't grind to a halt because they've got a few more letters to deliver of course, I don't know...

3 - Hunt me down like a Christmas turkey, DON'T throttle me, but DO give me two pounds in denominations of your choosing, and I will give you what you are wanting. I won't play hard to get. Haven't got the moves anymore...

And before we go, does anyone remember David Bowie doing the introduction to The Snowman? I bloody didn't.

Tiny Dancing - Issue 3 (Real Version)

Ah, the difficult third issue. Difficult for me to get my arse in gear you understand, in no way difficult for the amazing people who have contributed yet more astonishing work for our pleasurings with apparent ease.

In an order of my choosing we have a boggling array of offerings from Megan Ancliffe, Michael Gosden, H.B., Steven Horry, Lovejoy, Ricky Miller, Tom Quinn, Rebecca Strickson and David White - and what's more this time we've enlisted the help of a real printer, so you don't have to put up with my wonky stapling. The pace of the progress is SCARY.

It's one pound again plus the price of a stamp if you need it sent out, which we think is about thirty pence or something. I remember when you could get a stamp for like 15p, and the postie would put it through your door with a cheeky whistle, a kind word and a ruffle of the hair for any scamp who might be in the vicinity... but then there was that thing with the kid with the wig, and it all got a bit upsetting. Oh well.

So how should we get this done - take your pick from this lot:

1 - Paypal - this totally worked last time, with electro-pounds whizzing about all ways. It might just work again...:

THE AVERY HILL PUBLISHING SHOP!

2 - Send me a pound, a ten pence and a twenty pence stuck to a bit of card with your address on to:

Tiny Dancing
12C The Gardens
East Dulwich
London
SE22 9QD

A copy will fly out then forthwith.

3 - Find me, give me a pound, demand I deliver the goods. This one might be the most 'fun'.

And if none of them float your boat, there will be some copies in Sister Ray on Berwick Street in the not too distant future, so with that I think we have our 'bases' truly 'covered'. Wonderful.

Oh, let us know what you think, what you don't think, what you like, that kind of stuff - we love to hear from you, and we do get lonely. Goodbye.
